As with most projects, we had a problem that needed a solution. The inspiration for this toddler bed came when our second granddaughter was born and the whole family was coming to visit. Since the new baby needed to use the crib, we had to find a place for our oldest granddaughter to sleep. So I quickly came up with this design using dimensional pine, 4×4 untreated fence posts (available at Lowes or Home Depot), pocket holes and a crib mattress.
This is a project that can be built in a day with limited tools and beginner skills.
