While I have seen and actually built learning stools/towers, we needed a better option for our house and grandchildren. We have an island in the center of our kitchen and our grandchildren would use a 3 step metal stool to help cook. After a few near falls off that I came up with this option to provide a bit more safety and to hold more than one child at a time. As you can see it is portable and handy to use at our kitchen table as well.
This is a project that can be built in a day with limited tools and beginner skills
